The thing about possibilities is that they are promising and terrifying. As my job comes to a close, I don't know what will arise, when I least expect it or when I make it happen, or when it comes from behind and knocks me on my ass from behind. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Security is an illusion anyhow, especially when you're in the business I've been in for so many years, as a part-time instructor. Time I packed my bag and took myself on to other pastures, other opportunities.

I agree. Look at this time as an exciting opportunity! Part-time teaching can hardly be called a secure way of making a living, but then again, so many full-time professionals are losing their jobs as well. Security is nice, but there is far less of it out there these days. This is the reality of today's economy and job market.
You are very smart and creative and have many skills and talents which should put you in good stead in a dynamic, creative market.
If I had a son or daughter going out into this job market I would advise him/her to be flexible and expect to change careers at least a couple of times in their lifetimes. A career change about once every ten or so years seems to be realistic nowadays.
At any rate, you have quite an adventure ahead of you, and you have the right attitude. Go for it!
To tell the truth, I thought about it every once in a while, leaving to see what else was out there. I was just afraid to go ahead and do it.
Something will happen, even if it's something I don't like. We will just have to see what it is.
It will certainly give you something to blog about!
That's true.
