Overwhelmed With Repairs

When we chose this house, we assumed that there were certain small jobs (in addition to a few big ones) that needed to be done. One of these was having the tile floor professionally cleaned and re-sealed. I was told by a friend with some knowledge of this process that it would cost at least $250., so was ready for an estimate in that general range. However, I got a $900. estimate for this job, which completely flummoxed me. Given the number of other, larger, and more crucial jobs (plumbing, electrical, etc.) that need to be done and the number of major purchases I must make (washer/dryer, air conditioner, flat screen t.v.) this is impossible. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Prioritize, a flat screen TV is not a necessity instead it is a want. Welcome to owning a large home.

Unfortunately, there is no room for a regular tv on the floor; hence, if we want TV at all in the living room, it will have to be flat screen, so it can hang over the fireplace, and that means it will have to be pretty big, so we can see it across the room.
We can put our old tv in the third bedroom, as long as Jeremy isn't going to be living there right now. When he moves in, we can get the flat screen. But I think we'll want to sit in the living room. The windows are so beautiful.

I wouldn't call it a big house... it's only 1210 sq ft, but that's a bit larger than what we have now, and it is self-contained like a house, though it is a condo.

When all the work is done, I'll post some pics. Unfortunately, I can't do the kitchen right now. NExt year, perhaps, I'll rip it to smithereens and get new cabinets.

Oh, I thought you purchased a house. It is better to take your time and replace what you have now. I am looking forward to lots of pictures.
