We have now eaten our Thanksgiving meal and are now getting over all the hustle and bustle and the eating. The meal was very good, though it was a lot more work than going out to eat and not really any cheaper (unless you count all the nice leftovers!). It's actually a good thing we ate in though because when I went to pick my mom up today, she was not feeling at all well, and was very unsteady on her feet--more than usual. I thought I'd have to forego dinner and go to the emergency room. But she perked up and actually ate quite a lot of turkey.
The smoked bird was very good, and the roasted vegetables were actually my favorite part of the dinner. It was red onion, portobello mushrooms, butternut squash cubes, garlic, carrots, and yellow bell peppers, plus shallots, olive oil, pomegranite vinegar, and fresh herbs. It could have stood more cooking on the lower shelf of the oven, but that was occupied by the bird. The guys liked their mashed potatoes and gravy, but that's really not my thing at all. The stuffing was good, and of course, the cranberry orange relish!
Jeremy sat with my mom and showed her old pictures of when he was a baby and before he was born. It was fun for all of us to talk about where those places were, who those people were, when it might have been, etc. My mom was not too interested. She didn't even know who the people in the room were, never mind the ones in the pictures.

Sounds like a successful day!
Yes it was! It was the most "family" Thanksgiving I've had in my life, I think.
Love the upsidedown Robbi...
And that sounds like a Thanksgiving! Good for you, managing despite all--and accepting whatever comes in the eldercare corner.
Today here is college apps, a friend's open studio, a parade (N's first marching band stint), and a leftovers party out in the country... Etc.
Busy as usual! You are probably like me and would go bonkers if you were not busy!
How was your Thanksgiving? Did your husband do most of the cooking?
By the way, the headstand picture above was taken by Lou!
