Giving Notice

By the way, I gave notice this morning by phone, which was awful and horrendous. I feel like a criminal. The guy who used to own the house (and still owns it in everything but name) began to cry and accuse me of betraying him, etc. I stuck to my guns and told him quite bluntly why we are leaving, but I did give in a little, saying I would try to give him some notice, though not 30 days.

Wat kind of business owner cries during a transaction? That's just obnoxious.

I used to lie awake for many reasons during the caretaker/bed&board days with my parents. I wondered where dad was. I wondered when I would be sued for paying under the table. I so often felt duped. Yet I was also at the mercy of these people, who I had tried so hard to carefully choose.

That's what you are doing, Robbi--choosing carefully in an effort to get the best care for your mother and father. You are a good daughter.

Sounds as if, it is all about the money. Not the quality care of your parents.

Thanks Lou. I try. And this guy is a bigger creep than I ever dreamed when, from the first moment, I did not trust him. He never looked me full in the face. But all in all, he kept his promises.
Why did you wonder where your dad was? Wasn't he in the same house with your mom, or did he just go wandering away down the street by himself?
Beth,
For the present owner, it definitely is all about the money.
