Postscript
It seems Suzie may not take the job after all. The owner of the old place was so enraged when I told them we were not staying that he threatened to hurt Suzie anyway, even if going with us was not her idea but mine. Her brother was afraid and told her she shouldn't take the job. I think she will eventually make her way, even if she doesn't take the job, but frankly, I am worried about my mother. I think in a totally new place with unfamiliar caregivers, she will not be okay. I don't want to leave her in the old place now, without caregivers at all and give the guy the satisfaction that he kept us from leaving, controlled us. He is a bully.

Ugh, so many walls at every turn, Robbi. I think you just have to make the move and believe that the best will happen, that your mom will become accustomed to a caregiver, just as she had to become used to Suzie. I am thinking of you, and damn, I am sorry about the blown tire.
oh gosh Robbi I didn't even think about how your parents would react to a new place...there must be some way to ease this transition that is sure to be rough. Maybe visiting them very often? It's interesting to think about but impossible perhaps to know what creates a sense of security in your mother's mind now.
You are really handling this whole episode valorously in my opinion, and my hope is that it will quickly show to be a much better situation for them.
Do you think your Dad will recognize it as a nicer place? And does his emotion affect your mother's still?
I couldn't stay now, having proof of what a bastard this guy is. We will go, and hope for the best. RE: the tire, I guess we were lucky not to be hurt or even killed.
My dad is the one who wants to go. He loves the place and can't get over the idea that a guy like him, who worked in a factory and never went to college, who had to steal to eat as a child in the depression, could live in a luxurious place like that.
And, as a union man, he liked the way this guy treats his workers, how he doesn't exploit them as the present owner does.
And yes, he does and can influence my mom. And I'm sure he will. She didn't like the place, saying it was "too big," but since the present place is not an option so far as I'm concerned, especially since this guy is so spiteful, we are going, Suzie or no Suzie.
Catching up here - so much for you to handle but you're doing what must be done. take care - see you soon --
Your Mom will adjust. Change is always scary. You are doing what is right for your parents and need to stop second guessing yourself.
Beth
Yes, Beth. Suzie was supposed to come with us and take care of my parents. But first the old owner threatened her and then offered her a better job. If I were she, I wouldn't trust anything he said.
Hi Reb! Happy New Year! Looking forward to seeing your pinecone.
